The Eighteenth Convocation of Nirma University was celebrated on 18th October 2014. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Prof S S Mantha, Chairman, AICTE. He delivered the Convocation Address and also presented scholastic medals to the students. In his address he talked about the shortage of employment prospects; creation of new job opportunities; quality of education in the educational institutes and the role of Universities and Colleges in addressing these issues. He further stated that “Technology and education have a massive role in facilitating new job markets. Innovative methodologies and targets set for Universities like yours and others and educational czars to deliver can create opportunities and aid in job creation.”
He congratulated the passing out students and the medal winners and expressed his expectation that each one of them shall add to the value proposition in the outside world. He said, “Success and failure are two sides of the same coin and one needs to be conscious of the dynamics of the environment. Any activity that brings happiness is to be seen as part of a successful life.”
During the convocation the students from the Institute of Technology, Institute of Diploma Studies and Institute of Pharmacy were conferred degrees by Dr Karsanbhai K Patel, the President of the University. In all 1886 students were awarded degrees during the convocation. Dr Patel delivered the Presidential address on the occasion. Dr Anup Singh, Director General, Nirma University presented the concluding address.
