INSPIRE Fellowship Review Meeting at Nirma University

INSPIRE Doctoral Fellows, Invited experts and the team of Directorate of Research & Innovation during DST INSPIRE REVIEW Meeting 2019

Directorate of Research & Innovation, Nirma University organised INSPIRE Fellowship Review Meeting 2019 in association with Department of Science & Technology, Government of Gujarat. The three-day event started from July 25, 2019, and concluded on July 27, 2019.

Dr P N Tekwani, Director, Research & Innovation, Nirma University welcomed experts and students from across India at the Inaugural function of the INSPIRE Review Meeting 2019. INSPIRE an acronym for Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research is an innovative programme sponsored and managed by the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India. The focus of this programme is to inspire and encourage students to pursue a doctoral degree in basic and applied sciences. The idea behind this review meeting was to evaluate the progress on the students’ PhD work and to guide them in the right direction for a brighter future.

Dr Umesh Sharma, Scientist E, Department of Science & Technology briefed everyone on the purpose of the meeting and welcomed the experts and the participants. Dr Tamanna Arora, Scientist C, Department of Science & Technology, shared information on the awards, fellowships, scholarships and faculty awards starting from school to university level under INSPIRE.

The review meeting had a poster exhibition where ninety-seven students from across India presented their work. Experts from different fields like Life Sciences, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering Science, Mathematics, Plant Pathology, Veterinary Science and Applied Sciences, evaluated their posters. The review meeting provided new insight and direction to many students.
