The E-Cell of Nirma University concluded the 4th edition of its flagship event, Hackathon 4.0 on November 13, 2022. The 3-day event was inaugurated on November 11, 2022, at the Incubation Centre at the Nirma University. In Hackathon 4.0, students from across Gujarat participated to learn the fundamentals of starting a business venture by giving them hands-on experience. There were 58 participants in the competition.
After successfully hosting three hackathons, two of which were online, the 4th edition happened on campus in the Incubation Centre inaugurated earlier this year. The aim was to build an idea out of scratch and present it as a feasible business idea. The event began with an Ice-Breaking session to enable fellow participants to connect and build a team. Bouncing off ideas and networking laid the foundation for the next two days. The teams then made their own business plans with the help of mentors, who were experienced industry professionals. After the brainstorming sessions and problem identification, the teams finally pitched their business ideas to a panel of renowned start-up founders.
The mentors were Ms Nikita Lalwani, founder of the Crooze app; Mr Karan Shah, SDG Practitioner and Climate Reality Leader; Mr Niraj Harlalka, CEO and Co-founder of Eduberance and Ms Nikita Maheshwari, co-founder of Tilebazaar and Tatkalorry.
The winning team was an all-girls team from the Institute of Management, Nirma University, where the product was a pair of heels that could be detached and converted into flat-sole shoes. Other notable ideas were ‘Tunear’, a wearable device for people with hearing impairment and a fully-operational cloud kitchen to deliver freshly cooked meals for your pets and deliver it within 30 minutes. The problem identified here was pet parents who could not give attention to their pets’ health thus feeding them packaged foods.
The winners of the event will get a chance to pitch their ideas under Nirma University’s Incubation Centre for further developing and funding opportunities.
